Yack resident, Gerry Engwerda has a host of information and knowledge to share, his briefings examine current affairs, what is happening in the world and how that might impact on us.
We will be trialing a new format to these sessions.
The one hour talk but it will be preceded by a 20 - 25-minute round up of what is making news around the world along with a bit of commentary to put it in perspective.
Obviously, this will make the session a little longer at 1 ½ hours (maximum) instead there will be a 10 minute break in the middle so that people can stretch their legs and have a bit of a breather.
Topic - Shopping
Why do we always come home with more than we had on our shopping list? How do retailers and advertisers use everything from shop layout, advertising, pricing and all sorts of other subliminal influences to persuade us to stay a little longer and part with our cash? In this session we will look at how business collects data, the importance of sounds and smell and what the future of department stores might be in the age of online shopping.
Put this event in your diary and let your friends know about this interesting topic.
