Our World Talks, with Gerry - Christianity – the beginnings
Christianity – the beginnings
From a historical perspective not necessarily a religious one. What was life like in first century Palestine and how did that influence the nascent Christian movement? Who wrote what and when and what can be safely taken as fact and what needs a bit of a closer look. How did Christianity grow, how did they relate to the Romans and who really invented the Church?

Our World Talks, with Gerry - Megacities
Megacities
Megacities are massive urban areas with over ten million residents, representing human progress and challenges. They offer opportunities, culture, and connectivity, but face issues such as congestion, urban sprawl and infrastructure access. Balancing growth with sustainability and inclusivity has become critical as these cities increasingly shape our future.

Our World Talk with Gerry Engwerda
The Spice trade
The spice trade has a rich history dating back to ancient civilizations, with prized spices like
cinnamon and pepper traded along overland and sea routes. The Silk Road facilitated
exchanges between East and West, while the Age of Exploration saw European powers
seeking direct access to spice-producing regions. European colonization and competition,
particularly in the Spice Islands, shaped the trade's trajectory. Though its importance declined
with the emergence of new commodities, spices continue to influence global cuisine and
culture today.
