Yackandandah  Community Garden

The Community Garden has a strong focus on community, education & sustainability and the Community Garden Working Group welcomes all members of the town and district to plant, grow, water, harvest, weed and maintain the Yackandandah community garden.

The Yackandandah Community Garden, was developed in partnership with Sustainable Gardening Australia (SGA), and made possible through funding provided by the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust Bush fire Grants Fund. The fund was established in response to the 2009 Victorian bush fires, and its principal aims were to assist in the restoration of community life in rural townships affected by the fires.

Where will you find the garden?

It is next to the Swimming Pool in William Street, and opposite Yack’s Court House.

When does the Community Garden Working group meet in the garden?

The community garden working group meets every Saturday at 9.30am. A 7am start during the warmer months, Jan-Feb-Mar. All community members are welcome to join, connect and learn.

Can I use the community garden space for an event ? Can I even use the pizza oven?

Yes! The community garden is there to be used.

Is the harvest table accessible to everyone?

Yes! locals are encouraged to share their locally grown produce, excess plants, food preserving equipment etc.

If you take something from the table, we ask that, if you can, offer a small donation to help fund community garden projects and workshops.

Can I borrow food preserving equipment?

Yes, the Yackandandah Community Garden has a selection of food preserving equipment available to loan. Visit the Equipment Hire tab to see the list of equipment available and conditions of use.
