Who we are and what we do
Yackandandah Community Centre (YCC) is a not for profit organisation with a volunteer Committee of Management. It started in 1992 as Yackandandah Community Education Network (YCEN), a merger between the Yack Learning Exchange (1985) and the Rural Neighbourhood House Network (1991). Yackandandah Shire Council and then Indigo Shire Council provided important support and funding throughout all the stages of development. YCEN changed its name to Yackandandah Community Centre in 2014 as a reflection of its changing role in the community.
We run a variety of courses and activities which are open to both residents and non-residents of Indigo Shire. (Link to “Courses” here)
We are proud parents of COS, Yackandandah’s own Community Op Shop, which operates from the front room of the Community Centre. It is run entirely by a wonderful team of volunteers who willingly give of their time and have a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in their community.
The Community Centre has rooms available for hire for commercial and community groups at very reasonable rates. Please talk to us about your group’s needs.
We offer membership of the Centre at $10 per person per annum (membership runs from January to December), $15 for a family and $40 for community Groups. For this membership, you will receive a discount on courses run here and on photocopying and printing. You will also help your Community Centre to provide top quality courses and facilities for Yackandandah. Don’t delay – join today.
